Mount St. Joseph University proudly announces the Department of Biology & Biomedical Sciences as our May Pride of the Lions!

pride of the lions biology

Dear Mount Community,

During this academic year, the Department of Biology & Biomedical Sciences has hosted over 200 high school students on campus for various laboratory experiences. These visits, which were led and coordinated by Dr. Beth Murray and Mr. Doug Miller, provided students with an opportunity to explore the human body with the Anatomage Tables and cadavers. The following high schools participated: Mason High School (60 students); Ross High School (24 students); Wyoming High School (15 students); Mount Notre Dame High School (31 students); and Mount Notre Dame High School (40 students).

Additionally, and in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, they hosted the "iSPACE Girls in Stem" event for a group of 48 students and their parents. And, finally, in April, Dr. Murray collaborated with Dr. Mark Fischer in hosting a Forensics Experience for 20 students from Badin High School.

The work of these faculty members exemplifies the commitment of the Faculty, generally, in supporting the Admissions Team, connecting the Mount to the local community, and showing prospective students the great learning experiences the Mount has to offer!

Please join me in congratulating these Faculty members and their Departments!

Sincerely,

H. James Williams, Ph.D.
